My BACKGROUND
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of professional experience supporting individuals and families on their journeys toward healing and growth. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from Hunter College in 2013. As a Hispanic and Black woman, I bring a perspective that is both personal and deeply rooted in cultural awareness—one that many clients find relatable and affirming.
Having grown up with physical challenges and in a home marked by instability, anxiety, and fear, I understand firsthand the deep impact that emotional pain can have on our well-being. My journey has taught me the transformative power of feeling seen, heard, and safe. I believe healing begins with validation, genuine connection, and compassionate support—foundations that help foster growth and empower individuals to move toward wholeness and resilience. That realization has shaped my passion and commitment to being that source of support for others.
Throughout my career, I have worked across a variety of settings—including foster care agencies, schools, clinics, and faith-based organizations—providing services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. My experience includes supporting individuals with disabilities, those navigating involvement with child welfare systems, and clients managing emotional challenges such as anxiety, depression, anger, relational issues, substance use, and major life transitions.
I also have extensive experience facilitating parenting groups, helping caregivers build on their strengths and enhance their parenting skills in a supportive, collaborative environment.
My therapeutic approach is client-centered and grounded in respect, empathy, and empowerment. I strive to create a safe, welcoming space where clients feel comfortable to express themselves at their own pace—where they feel heard, validated, and seen not just for their struggles, but for their strengths. I believe every person is inherently enough, and it is my goal to help clients recognize their worth, build confidence, and move forward with resilience and clarity.
Therapy, to me, is a partnership. I work collaboratively with my clients to identify their goals and walk alongside them as they pursue meaningful change. Above all, I am committed to fostering a nonjudgmental, affirming space where individuals can thrive and feel empowered in their growth.
Here, you are seen. You are heard. And most importantly — you are enough.
You are not behind. You are not broken. You are becoming. Welcome!

"Charlene continues to be such a huge help in me continuing to learn and understand myself. She recalls things that previously helped me or details that I don’t even remember telling her. She is attentive, patient, and empathetic. She validates my feelings and empowers me to believe in myself more. I am very grateful for her."

"Charlene is amazing at not only listening to my concerns but providing coping skills to deal with my issues outside of therapy. I enjoy that she validates my feelings while still calling me out on my negative behaviors that I am trying to improve on. I have found (& been told) that I have improved overall in managing my emotions over the past year since starting therapy with Charlene."
